Mac OSX 10.4.7

Mac OSX 10.4.7

Mac OSX 10.4.7 | 4.3 GB

This is a modified Mac OS X Tiger restore disk from an Intel iMac. Ghestalt ID checks have been removed, so it will allow installation on ANY intel macintosh that shipped with any version of Tiger. References to disc 2 have also been removed, so it should run the OS install and finish without asking for disc 2.
This is an important tool to have if you need to perform an “archive and install” or a fresh install of 10.4 on an intel mac, and have lost your restore discs. The retail 10.4 discs are powerpc only and will NOT boot on an intel macintosh.

Notes:

1) this was from an iMac, and will only install SMC fan support for certain iMacs. This may cause the fans to race when you restart after installation to a macbook etc. (there may also be airport issues initially) Run the 10.4.11 combo updater via software update to fix any of these problems.

2) this was created from an iMac restore disc, so it should also install wireless and built-in isight drivers, as well as photobooth. Usual bundled software such as ilife will NOT be installed, as those were on disc 2 and have been removed from the installer. Those are easily obtained elsewhere as needed.

3) you may either burn this image to DVD (single layer ok) or restore to a partition on a hard drive and boot from that. GUID partition scheme is recommended for hard drive installation, but may not be required. Installation from a hard drive partition is many times faster than from DVD, and it will also skip the slow “verifying media” step when booted from hard drive. If booting from a DVD, hold “C”, if booting from a partition, hold and select the volume.

4) this will install 10.4.7. It WILL NOT BOOT on an intel iMac that shipped with 10.5 or later. You almost never can install an older version of Mac OS X than what shipped with the computer. If you get a kernel panic when booting, that’s probably your issue. Install 10.5 or 10.6 instead.
